VirginiaFIRST is the local 501(c)(3) organization created to support the goals of FIRST, the foundation created by inventor Dean Kamen to address our critical need to steer greater numbers of students toward careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
FIRST's Goal:
· Encourage girls, minorities and low-income students in under-served communities to take an interest in science, math and technology.
· Increase participation of mentors who share technical expertise and serve as positive role models.
· Provide an opportunity to develp creative problem solving and technical skills.
